Incredible reliability and comfort
By ArmyDoc | on Thursday, November 09, 2017
My truck has 94K miles. I thought I would trade around 70K miles but could not justify trading until this beast began to fail. It hasnt. Its ride remains very comfortable. The cab is quiet. Has yet to disappoint me on any aspect. I justified new tires, spark plugs and brakes at 93K miles since she just seems to want a few more years with me. I could not be happier.… - 5.0
Perfect truck
By Packersfan | on Friday, December 11, 2020
2016 RAM 1500 Bighorn. Truck has 62k miles and has not had an issue. Engine has plenty of power for towing but also gets decent gas mileage. This is easily the best driving and most competent truck I've driven. Originally I wanted a Silverado but was very underwhelmed during the test drive and from other reviews. Also test drove Toyota Tundra and F-150 but found the RAM to be the best overall. Tundra was outdated and very rough riding. The F-150 was a very compelling alternative but I still felt the RAM was best between the two. I hope to keep this truck for a long time.… - 5.0
Ram Bighorn Don't Underestimate the V6
By Rod | on Monday, September 23, 2019
I needed a truck that could multitask and provided the best value. Hauling the occasional load of lumber (with the gate down), concrete, bikes, furniture, Jeep parts etc. and also hauling a family of 4 (sometimes 5) comfortably around town and on longer trips. I also kept debating if I needed a V8 or if the V6 would do the job. I recently hauled home a project jeep from 4 hours away and most of my questions were put to rest. It pulled a trailer with a jeep and many extra part loaded in the bed and Jeep (about 6,500lbs) very well. Although mostly highway, I was able to haul at 65 mph, get onto and off ramps with enough throttle and break to blend with traffic. It averaged 16 mpg FULLY loaded. Not bad considering I get 24 mph highway and 16 city. I've put about 20K miles on the truck over the year and have been very happy with almost all aspects from performance to comfort. While I really like the sound and extra power a Hemi might have. The Pentastar has 300 hp and 260 pound feet it is close to spec for past Truck V8s. The 8 speed Torqueflite transmission it has enough mechanical advantage on demand to get the job done well. It also handles great with 250 pounds less over the front axle. The smooth ride rivals other full sized luxury SUVs. All around I've been happy with V6 choice. If you haul trailers over 6,000 lbs on a regular bases go ahead and get the V8 but if you are hauling a couple motorcycles, jet skis, a small boat or small camper (4k-6k lbs) several weekends a year then this is a great balanced powertrain to do the job. As far as value goes, I let someone else take the new car scent. With 24k on the odometer and almost 2 years old as a fleet vehicle, I got great deal. I hope the next 100k miles keep me happy.…
